Rāj means power, position, royalty & sambandha means related to. Hence, Rājsambandha Yoga implies being associated or related to in some manner with royal or powerful families/people because of which the native gets a high status & lots of luxuries & comforts of life.

A person has Rājsambandha Yoga in the chart if:

Venus is placed in any of the below-mentioned 5 Lagnas or in the 5th House from any of the below-mentioned 5 Lagnas:

1] D1 Lagna (Lagna of the Rāśi Chart); 2] Ārudha Lagna; 3] Navāmśa Lagna; 4] Kārakamśa Lagna or 5] Kāraka Lagna.

E.g., Venus can be placed in the D1 Lagna itself or in the 5th House from the D1 Lagna.

AND IF such a Venus is also associated either with Jupiter or Moon then such a native will be associated with royalty or people in power/position.

Kārakamśa Lagna is the sign/rāśi occupied by the Ātmakāraka in the Navāmśa Chart.

Kāraka Lagna is the sign/rāśi occupied by the Ātmakāraka in the Rāśi Chart.

In the chart above, Venus is in the 5th House from the Lagna of Rāśi Chart [D1] receiving sign aspect/rāśi dṛṣti from both Moon & Jupiter. Jupiter is in the 12th House of Rāśi Chart & is in the 5th House of Navāmśa Chart [D9]. Generally, planets placed in or aspecting the 12th House of Rāśi Chart act as a neṣtā graha and send a partner in your life for you to get married. Planets in the 5th House of Navāmśa Chart also send a partner for you to receive some love in your life. And when there is a planet in these houses, native usually meets the partner in the antar daśā of that planet placed in such houses. Queen Maxima met Willem Alexander, the then Prince now the King of Netherlands, in April, 1999 when she was running the antar daśā of Jupiter. In the chart of late Princess Diana, Ātmakāraka Moon is in the 5th House, Capricorn. Hence, Capricorn is the Kāraka Lagna. [Kāraka Lagna is the sign/rāśi occupied by the Ātmakāraka in the Rāśi Chart]. Venus is placed in the 5th House from the Kāraka Lagna. Venus receives sign aspect/rāśi dṛṣti from both Moon & Jupiter. Venus is the dārākāraka [significator of spouse, marriage] and hence, it was marriage with Prince Charles which triggered the Rājsambandha Yoga in her life. The 7th Lord Jupiter is conjunct 6th Lord Saturn, which is not good for marriage. Separation happened in the antar-daśā of Saturn.

Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru

In the Navāmśa Chart of Pt. Nehru, Ātmakāraka Moon is conjoined Venus and apart from being in the sign of Jupiter is also aspected by Jupiter. Occurring in Navāmśa, this yoga as bound to have a repercussion in the personal life. 11th House in Navāmśa is not only a friend but is Priya Bhāva, someone you develop love & affection for. Venus apart from forming Rājsambandha Yoga is also having sign aspect/rāśi dṛṣti on the 2nd House & Mars is also placed in the 2nd House. When Venus & Mars jointly influence the 2nd House from Navāmśa Lagna or Kārakamśa Lagna they give a bit of an excessive sexual desire & also extra-marital relations. It is a well known fact that Jawaharlal Nehru was very close to Lady Mountbatten. So, Rājsambandha Yoga in this case not only gave a close friendship, affection with Lady Mountbatten but with Venus along with Mars also influencing the 2nd House it was obviously more than a mere friendship.

So, planets forming Rājsambandha Yoga, if also involved in forming other yogas, those other yogas will also function simultaneously.

Generally, Rājsambandha Yoga indicates a good relationship and not carnal pleasure. It shows rise in life due to a good relationship or friendship. Unless Rājsambandha Yoga occurs in the Navāmśa chart or planets forming Rājsambandha Yoga are associated with relationship/marriage giving houses, it should not be taken to mean any form of a personal or physical relationship.
